Short-Term Radon Testing

Short-term radon testing is typically conducted over 96 hours (4 days) and provides a snapshot of radon levels during a specific period. This type of testing is commonly used during real estate transactions when results are needed quickly.

If levels exceed Health Canada guidelines, buyers and sellers can use the results to discuss mitigation options or follow up with a long-term test for confirmation.

For homeowners who simply want to understand their property’s typical radon exposure, a long-term test is still recommended.

Long-Term Radon Testing

The only way to know if your home has elevated radon is to test for it. Health Canada recommends a minimum 90-day test to determine your home’s long-term average radon level, since concentrations can change daily and seasonally.
