Frequently Asked Questions
What is radon and why should I be concerned about it?

Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that naturally occurs in the ground. It can enter homes through cracks in foundations and accumulate to dangerous levels. Long-term exposure to high radon levels is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. That’s why it’s crucial to test your home and mitigate if necessary. For more information please visit our What Is Radon page.

How do I know if my home has high radon levels?

The only way to know for sure is through professional testing. At Parkland Radon, we use advanced equipment to accurately measure radon levels in your property. We recommend testing for all homes, as radon levels can vary greatly even between neighboring houses.

What does the radon mitigation process involve?

Our mitigation process starts with a thorough assessment of your property. Based on the results, we design a custom system that typically involves installing a vent pipe and fan to draw radon from beneath your home and vent it outside. Our C-NRPP certified team ensures the system is quiet, energy-efficient, and effective.

How long does radon testing and mitigation take?

Standard radon testing usually takes 48 to 96 hours. If mitigation is needed, the installation process typically takes one to two days, depending on your home’s size and structure. We always aim to minimize disruption to your daily life during the process.

Are your radon mitigation systems noticeable or disruptive?

We design our systems to be as unobtrusive as possible. The systems are quiet, energy-efficient, and often can be installed with minimal visual impact on your home. We work with you to find the best placement for system components, balancing effectiveness with aesthetics.
